European Hedgehog
This pattern is currently only available by purchasing the book that it is published in - Wild & Woolly Knitted Animals, A Naturalist's Journal. Available wherever books are sold!
Young hedgehogs are born in litters ranging from one to eleven and remain with their mothers for only 4-7 weeks before heading out on their own. ♥
European Hedgehog is worked flat in two pieces (top and bottom) with a double strand of yarn worked in loop stitch on the top, and a single strand of yarn worked in stockinette stitch on the bottom. The tiny legs are worked separately, in-the-round, and seamed to the bottom. Stitches are picked up in the neck opening to begin the head. Finished hedgehogs are about 10” long and 6” wide.
Learn more about this wonderful animal and 24 others when you read the pages of a naturalist as she travels the world, documenting the animals she sees, and designing knitting patterns for each one. This book was a collaboration with my children who did the artwork.
