Did you know that these amazing animals grow to be 31-37 inches long and weigh 220 pounds?!
Flatback Sea Turtle begins with the head which is worked in two pieces to shape the mouth, then stitches are joined in the round to knit the body. Legs are worked in the round. The carapace is worked separately - flat, and with yarn held double to make it extra thick. It is then seamed to the body. Your sea turtle will be around 12 inches long and 11 inches wide when completed.
Learn more about this wonderful animal and 24 others when you read the pages of a naturalist as she travels the world, documenting the animals she sees, and designing knitting patterns for each one. This book was a collaboration with my children who did the artwork.
